2018 will mark our 10th Annual Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival. I've asked Josh Behrman, owner of Mountain Groove Productions, to attend this meeting so that the Board can discuss the changes and increases that are being requested by him for the production portion of the Bluegrass Festival. 'Production' includes paying for the bands, the sound and stage, lighting, transportation for the bands, and catering for backstage. In 2009, the Town paid MGP - $65,000 (for the 2010 event) In 2010, the Town paid MGP - $65,000 (for the 2011 event) In 2011, the Town paid MGP - $65,000 (for the 2012 event) In 2012, the Town paid MGP - $77,000 (for the 2013 event) In 2013, the Town paid MGP - $77,500 (for the 2014 event) In 2014, the Town paid MGP - $87,500 (for the 2015 event) In 2015, the Town paid MGP - $87,500 (for the 2016 event) In 2016, the Town paid MGP - $87,500 (for the 2017 event) In 2017, MGP is proposing that we increase our financial commitment by $18,000 to $105,500 for the 2018 event. WHEREAS, the Town of Palisade approved a two-year contract between the Town of Palisade and Mountain Groove Productions on August 9th, 2016 for the 2017 and 2018 Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival; and WHEREAS, the Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival has consistently grown over the years and revenues have exceeded what the Town has budgeted; and WHEREAS, the 2018 Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Music Festival is our 10-year celebration of the event; and WHEREAS, Mountain Groove Productions is requesting an increase in their overall budget for expenses relating to the production of the event, which includes the bands, sound and stage, lighting, transportation and catering.
